The wanted Danube 2014
„The wanted Danube“
A handmade, woollen „Rivercarpet“ made by people coming from all Danube countries
In order to demonstrate the solidarity among the Danube countries, the Danube-Networkers in Ulm under the coordination of the institute ILEU want to initiate a project involving as many people as possible from all Danube countries - no requirements with respect to age, social background, education and language skills – and ending in July 2014 during the Danube Festival in a cultural performance.
Project's approach: We want to crochet a simple woolen handmade band– at it's best as long as the Danube river as a symbol of a wanted Danube community and demonstration of our togetherness. The band will be worked on in several steps and ends in an art object that will be presented during the Danube festival on the 13th of July 2014 on the cathedral square (Münsterplatz). Afterwards the “Rivercarpet” will be divided into small pieces and used for further project demonstrations.
The project ist combined with numerous activities in the other Danube countries. These will start in Febuary 2014 in schools, associations, senior' organisations and also in one of the tents during the Danube festival. In this way the visitors of the festival get to know “the other” people living in countries along the Danube river better and to understand what they do, where and how they live. It is also a chance to talk and share ideas and experience and support common causes for a common Europe House.
The “Danube-Networkers” will tell about their own acitvities, their own experiences and about their realised joint projects. Everyone is invited to be part of this big network along the Danube.
